The Walpole Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full-time Police Officer to serve and protect the citizens and visitors of Walpole, Massachusetts. The Town of Walpole is a picturesque community located 13 miles south of downtown Boston, boasting strong schools and hardworking residents with a population just over 24,000. This Project has been in the works since 1997 and is necessary in order to properly maintain the infrastructure, as well as continue to ensure public safety and enhance economic development opportunities.
The proposed Project consists of reconstructing approximately 8,000 feet of roadway along Route 1A from our downtown to the Norwood Town Line including intersection and approach improvements at Fisher, Gould, Mylod and North Streets.
Route 1A is one of the Town’s main commercial corridors, as well as one of the region’s main thoroughfares. This particular stretch of Route 1A passes through several residential areas, has two public schools in the vicinity and also serves many local businesses, including small and large commercial plazas. The current condition of Route 1A has caused traffic congestion and troublesome safety issues for both vehicles and pedestrians, alike.
In addition to addressing much-needed traffic and pedestrian safety concerns, the Project will also address economic development needs. With the many businesses in the immediate area, improved infrastructure is necessary in order for them to continue to thrive. Planned development activities in the immediate and distant future will be supported by the Project.

In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, the following unclaimed and abandoned property will be destroyed or sold by means of an online auction by the online police auction website PROPERTYROOM.COM beginning on or after April 13, 2021.
The items to be auctioned are in as-is condition and are in no way guaranteed or under warranty by the Walpole Police Department or the Town of Walpole. Any person who believes they may have unclaimed property being held by the Walpole Police Department (or is currently up for auction), should contact the department immediately at 508-668-1212 to determine if they have a claim to the property. Proof of ownership will be required.
In an effort to continue our public safety partnership with citizens and businesses, the Walpole Police Department is offering a security camera registration program. The Walpole Camera Registry Program allows residents and business owners to voluntarily register the locations of their video surveillance systems with the Walpole Police Department. When a crime occurs, police will be able to identify the locations of nearby video cameras to obtain potential video surveillance. If necessary, police would ask Walpole Camera Registry Program participants to check their private video surveillance systems for a specific date and time for video that may show activity involved with a crime, and, if they so choose, participants can voluntarily provide copies of video footage to police for investigative purposes.
